Top 10: Overrated Books.

Have you ever saw a book everywhere and people are always talking about it, but when you read it, you were like “huh? is that it?”. It’s not that the book is bad exactly, but it just doesn’t live up to the hype.

11870085The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.
Mini Review: I remember my friend recommending this book to me when it came out and she was so excited about it that I had to give it a chance. Well, I actually gave it two chances, because when I finished the first one I honestly didn’t like it, so I tried it again to see if maybe I missed something, and I did like it a little bit more, but overall, it was still very meh to me.
The story is so slow paced that I was bored through most of the book, the romance was cute but I still didn’t feel anything towards the characters.

fifty-shades-coversFifty Shades Trilogy by E.L. James.
Mini Review: I actually only read the books recently because I sort of liked the second movie so I decided to give it a chance. Boy do I regret it. Look, there are so many things wrong with these books that if I started naming them I’d never stop. It’s just utterly ridiculous.

17838528The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson.
Mini Review: This book wasn’t necessarily bad, it just didn’t catch my attention as it did everyone else’s apparently. I honestly thought about dropping this book around a hundred times during the first half of it. I didn’t like ANYTHING about it throughout most of the book. Which didn’t make any sense to me because I loved Since You’ve Been Gone so much.
The writing is good, I like Morgan Matson’s style and I wanted to like this book. So I started focusing on the things that I could relate or enjoy reading about and not the main plot and characters. And those things turned out to be mostly just the girls friendship (only at times) and Clark (rarely).
Nevertheless, Andie was still so annoying and Toby reminds me of an old friend that I have mixed feelings about so I don’t completely love her.
Bri was so relatable to me and I think once we started seeing more of her without Toby (which only happened by the end of the book and there was so little of it) I started enjoying the reading a lot more.

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater.
Mini Review: When I started reading this, I actually enjoyed it. I fell right into the hype and I was super excited about everything. But then when The Raven King came out and I had to go back to that world, everything was so messy and confusing. So I looked back to the other books and I realized that although I did care for the characters, the main plot was so flawed and complex that it was impossible for me to actually enjoy it.
The writing is horrendous and by the end of it I was just done with everything. I just feel bad that even though the characters were great, the story couldn’t deliver anything worth reading.

h_deliriumseriesDelirium Trilogy by Lauren Oliver.
Mini Review: I read this series years ago, I was so attracted to the plot that I thought it’d be an amazing series. Well, it wasn’t that it was a bad trilogy, but when I got to the end I was not only disappointed but also indifferent towards basically everything. I didn’t really like the characters, Alex particularly, they were just overall annoying to me so it made me not enjoy the books as much as I could I guess.

2232854623174274Red Queen Series by Victoria Aveyard.
Mini Review: I have not yet read the third book of this series and I probably won’t to be honest. But the two books I did read didn’t really make me want to continue on with this saga. Look, it’s not that story is bad, it’s just too much. The whole thing feels like a mixture of a bunch of young adult series put together. The only character that I liked was Cal but he was not enough to make me want to go through with this. I just hope he gets the ending he deserves and please, for the love of God, don’t give Maven a redemption arc. He does not deserve it.

6442769Paper Towns by John Green.
Mini Review: Honestly, how can people actually like John Green’s books? They’re just soooo boring I can’t even handle. I mean, sure his ideas aren’t bad, but he stretches it out so much it ends up more of a annoyance than something I’d enjoy reading. And this book was no different. The characters were dull and I didn’t care for any of them to be honest, and the ending was so unsatisfactory yikes.

15745753Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell.
Mini Review: I really don’t understand how this book is so hyped up. Yes, it is cute. But that’s all it is, the plot is lacking, as in, basically nonexistent outside the romance and the characters aren’t relatable or endearing. And the ending was just disappointing really.

7260188Mockingjay (The Hunger Games #3) by Suzanne Collins.
Mini Review: I loved, absolutely loved, the first two books from this trilogy. And it’s not that I hated this one per se, but it was just ridiculously unfair. A lot of characters died for literally no reason. The ending was disappointing and honestly just wrong.

8755785City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments #6) by Cassandra Clare.
Mini Review: One of the things that bothered me the most in this book is how much it showed Emma and her gang, I mean it’s okay to introduce the characters but to make them such a huge part of the book when the story isn’t around them it’s preposterous. I was so annoyed by that it put me off from reading the series those characters actually belonged to.
The writing was not only bad but it completely ruined everything that had already been built in the past books.
Another thing that was ridiculous was the hype Cassandra Clare made about a lot of  main characters dying when in reality that didn’t quite happen. I don’t like when something is build up and it isn’t delivered.

Top 10: Laugh Out Loud Books.

There are some books that aren’t necessarily good but they are so hilarious and overall super fun to read. This are my top ten books that totally made me laugh out.

13500758Lingus by Mariana Zapata.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: I absolutely adore Mariana Zapata, she’s definitely one of my favorite authors, all of her books are incredible, and Lingus isn’t any different. This is such a fun book, Kat is an amazing character and I loved her relationship with her friends, it didn’t have any of the bitchiness frenemies bullshit, they loved and support each other which it’s what any good relationship is all about. Tristan is so charming, I just loved him so much. Also his relationship with Kat was so precious, and of course, like every Zapata book, SLOW BURN.

25883848The Hating Game by Sally Thorne.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: There isn’t one thing I dislike about this book, not one. I honestly love it so much, the characters, the story, the development, the interactions, the writing… literally everything. Please do yourself a favor and pick it up, I swear you won’t regret it.

12033455I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: A while back I was super into adult chick-lit and honestly everywhere I looked there was a Sophie Kinsella book, and the only one that I truly enjoyed is this one. Well, enjoyed is an understatement really, because I completely loved this book. Poppy is so funny and quirky, I absolutely love her, she’s the type of character I aspire to be and I loved her as a protagonist. And Sam is my type of dream guy. You know those personality traits and characteristics you always want in a guy but never really find it? Yep, Sam has them all. He’s quiet, sarcastic, intelligent and successful. Although, I know my friends don’t agree with my type of guy, so I guess he’s not everyone’s type, but do believe it fits really well with the story.

26148083Rhythm, Chord & Malykhin by Mariana Zapata.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: I couldn’t resist to add another Mariana Zapata book, this one was super light and fun. Very unproblematic and just cuteness everywhere. And of course, slow burn which I absolutely adore.

30325011Managed (VIP #2) by Kristen Callihan.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: This book is so incredible. I’ve read a lot of Callihan’s books okay, but this one holds a special place in my heart, it’s so adorable and fun to read. I loved the characters so much, Gabriel and Sophie have a great story and I enjoyed it immensely.

22857396Sweet Addiction (Sweet Addiction #1) by J. Daniels.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: This was one of the first new adult books I’ve ever read, and it was so fun. Dylan’s relationship with her best friends are the best thing to read, their banter is so funny I never wanted it to end. Reese was a nice character as well, a little too possessive and jealous for my taste but overall this was very enjoyable.

22715924No One Like You (Barefoot William #4) by Kate Angell.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: My favorite thing about this book is how the dogs have so much personality that it feels like a character as well. It’s so nice to read it and it just adds to the overall appeal of the book to be honest. It’s such a fun summer book and it can totally be read as a stand-alone.

15858248Wallbanger (Cocktail #1) by Alice Clayton.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: Okay, I have to admit that when my friend recommended me this book I was a little unsure if I would read it. But I’m so glad I picked it up, it’s honestly one of the most, if not the most, hilarious books I’ve ever read. The overall isn’t like omg the best book ever, but it’s so enjoyable to read and it’s guaranteed to make you laugh.

26252659Big Rock by Lauren Blakely.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: I like Blakely’s books because they’re a fun and quick read. I honestly laughed so much while reading this that you wouldn’t believe. It has one of my favorite tropes, fake dating, and how it’s handled here it’s so entertaining, I loved it. And to be fair, all of her books could fit this category but that wouldn’t be fair, so I’ll just leave this one here.

1824673318663319Fool Me Once Series by Tara Sivec.
Goodreads | Amazon #1 | Amazon #2
Mini Review: Yes, I’m cheating, and well technically I still haven’t gotten around to reading the last book in this series, but the two books I did read I loved it. It’s super fun and light to read, I remember reading it in a road trip and it made the time pass so quickly because I was having so much fun with it.

Top 10: Too Cute To Handle YA

If you’re anything like me, you love some good young adult fluffiness. So I thought I’d share with you my Top Ten Too Cute To Handle Young Adult books. Yay!

tumblr_mixxgtpasx1s3jza0o1_500 Anna and the French Kiss Trilogy by Stephanie Perkins.
Goodreads | Amazon #1 | Amazon #2 | Amazon #3
Mini Review: Yes, I’m totally cheating putting this trilogy as only one book but I just love them so much. They’re so light and adorable. All of the characters are so precious and they’ll forever hold a place in my heart. My personal favorite is Isla and the Happily Ever After, but all of them are just so damn cute.

Play On (Lewis Creek #1) by Michelle Smith.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: Absolutely adorable! I loved everything about it. We have the book only from the guy’s point of view (not that it isn’t common but it has been so long since I’ve read one like that, it’s usually dual points of view or just the girls so I was very excited with that) and his inner monologues and expressions are so funny and cute I really enjoyed it.
I’m a sucker for sports book mostly because a) really hot guys and b) the companionship aspect of it, I love the idea of being in a team that’s like family to you, I think it’s so precious and that showed in this book so beautifully it was amazing to read.
One of the main characters suffers with depression, and it’s presented it in a different side, the side of how it feels for the people that loves them but feel helpless against this mental illness. It was dealt with it admirably well.
The main character’s best friend is gay, and he and his boyfriend have to go through coming out and everything that follows, especially since the book is set in a small close minded town, so it also deals with acceptance and how hard it is for them when someone from their family do not approve. Showing how there’s still a long way to go until we get to a point that people don’t have to ‘come out’ and simply be whatever they are.
I enjoyed this so much and I’m so glad I picked it up!

Flat-Out Love (Flat-Out Love #1) by Jessica Park.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: This is probably one of my favorite young adult books ever. I loved everything about it. The characters are INCREDIBLE. Julie is such a great protagonist, she’s witty and funny, I loved being in her head. Matt is the cutest, he has the quiet and moody thing going on and I really love love interests like that, even though it’s not for everyone. Celeste is so amazing, I loved how relatable she was. These three characters makes everything worth reading, I swear.

Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: I’m crazy about the ‘we met online first’ trope, so this book was like winning the lottery for me, it has the perfect amount of friendship, humor, emotion, a hint of mystery, and of course, romance. Nowadays it’s pretty normal to have online friends so the idea of this trope isn’t so far fetched anymore, which it’s even more exciting for me. I loved the characters so much, and I found myself smiling like an idiot through most of the book, absolutely adorable.

15749186To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: I know this one is a favorite for a lot of people and I have to agree that everything about this book screams adorable. Lara Jean is such a cute character, I just wanted to hold her all the time. The family dynamic is amazing, I love seeing that in young adult books. And of course, Peter is everything a girl wants in a guy personified. Everything was very sweet and innocent, I enjoyed it immensely.

25488913Any Other Girl by Rebecca Phillips.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: I remember when I read this book for the first time and I got so obsessed with it, I only wanted to read books similar to this one and I found none that came close to this to be honest. It’s just so adorable?? I am  still in love with everything.
Kat is so authentic, I loved her personality and how incredible she is! And her dads are the best, honestly!
Emmett is such a sweetheart! I felt so bad for his mom and what they had gone through with his father but he’s still so sweet to everyone. Swoon.
Family and friendship are a huge part of this book and it’s something that always makes books a thousand times better for me.

18660447The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: Kasie West is the queen of young adult fluff, I absolutely love all of her books, but this one is my favorite. Fake dating is definitely one of my favorite tropes and reading what West did with it was amazing. I loved the characters so much and the development that happened even with a relatively short period of time. Gia can be annoying at times, but she’s very relatable, at least to me she was. I’m always with my phone and I look for validation from everyone, which I’m trying to change and it was nice seeing the her develop in that way.

22724488Cinder & Ella (Cinder & Ella #1) by Kelly Oram.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: This book has two of my favorite tropes, we met online first and I fell in love with a celebrity, so of course I loved it! Ellamara is amazing, she’s so strong and with everything she’s been through I don’t think I would react the same way, she made more of an effort to make a horrible situation less horrible and I admired that in her. Brian was sweet, a little too flirty for my taste but overall these two was a cute combination. I loved Juliette, Violet and Rob, there’re amazing and I want a group friend like them so bad. I can’t wait to read the second book.

12000020Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: So beautiful. Absolutely incredible. I loved everything about this book. Dante is one of the most precious characters I’ve ever seen, he’s so important to  me and I love him so much. Ari’s development is outstanding to, see and the book develops in a perfect pacing, I honestly loved everything about this story.

16059149Magnolia (Magnolia Branch #1) by Kristi Cook.
Goodreads | Amazon
Mini Review: HATERS. TO. LOVERS. I just can’t with this trope okay? The banter, snarky remarks, messing with each other, baiting each other… the whole thing makes me so happy. Everything about this was so fun to read and honestly the story and characters were so cute?? Loved it. Although, I was a little surprise with how it was handled certain situations, I wasn’t expecting it from a book like this but it didn’t affect my view on the book overall.
